Falling into Fall

October 26th, 2011 § Comments Off § permalink

The leaves are turning colors, it’s getting a little bit cooler and the sun is setting a little bit earlier each day. Fall can be depressing! But, I must say it’s a pretty gorgeous time of year. Pretty Fall photos, pumpkin goodies and warm colors are what I love the most about this season. That, and I can officially start wearing boots!

Pizza Please!

October 7th, 2011 § Comments Off § permalink

After finding a couple really good pizzerias, I’ve really become obsessed with pizza these days. Thin, cripsy crust, fresh mozzarella and fresh tomato sauce are all it takes to make me smile. Throw in some pepperoni and I’m in heaven! With my work with the New Jersey Devils, I was introduced to Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and it was pretty amazing. Grimaldi’s still hold’s the number one spot for me, but this is a pretty close second. I mean, look at it! How can you say that isn’t a great pie… you can’t!

Hockey This Week @ Canada Cabin, NYC

May 12th, 2011 § Comments Off § permalink

Through the New Jersey Devils Generals program, I met a group of guys that host their own hockey radio shows live and on location, Hockey This Week. They’ve broadcasted from one of our own NJ Devils TweetUps, where they let me take a few shots of their set up and the event. This past weekend they went live from the Canada Cabin at the Windfall in NYC for a NHL Playoff game (Canucks versus Predators, Game 5 of Round 2.Go Canucks!) and again, let me bring my camera out to play.

Here’s a few shots, check out the rest on ChrissyBPhoto.com.

Spring in Full Swing!

Spring is by far my favorite season. Perfect weather, cute shoes, and the sun is still out when I leave work! And even though I’ve never played baseball a day in my life, there’s something about hearing the crack of a bat and seeing that gorgeous combination of green grass and orange dirt that really warms me up!

Here are a few shots I took of my younger cousin, JT, playing for his little league team. Nothing special, just a proud god-mama showing off!

Save the Date!

March 25th, 2011 § Comments Off § permalink

My best friend is getting married! Naturally, I’m all about trying to help her get ready for her big day any way I can. Whether it be picking out colors, looking at cake toppers, or… designing the Save the Dates! She’s having a warm, rustic fall wedding and we wanted to carry that theme throughout. We thought the perfect way to incorporate the feeling of a romantic fall wedding would be to use warm autumn colors, falling leaves and two super cute love birds on the branch of a tree!

Devils Army Generals Still At Work

March 16th, 2011 § Comments Off § permalink

It’s been a month since the New Jersey Devils launched their Mission Control program and so far, so good! The generals, myself included, are very active in the program whether it be running around the Prudential Center interacting with fans with iPads in hand, writing blog posts for the official Devils Army Blog or keepin’ it social in the Mission Control offices manning the official Twitter and Facebook accounts and talking to fans about hockey, lunch and everything in between. And don’t think we’re just on Twitter. Generals can be found all around the arena and in the Digital Zone during game days and in in local area pubs and restaurants for away game viewing parties and Tweet Ups.

Mission Control been getting some attention along with good press and everyone is really excited about how far the program has come and where it’s going. The program is starting to really catch on and the exposure has been great! People are even loving the logo design (check out the previous post, or go here)! I recently met Jim Delaney of Activate Sports and Entertainment while working a shift at Mission Control and he had nothing but great things to say about the logo. Obviously, that was great to hear and left a smile on my face.

We’ve got a few things up our sleeves for the future, so make sure you’re following along – if you don’t already! Find us @DevilsGenerals and at @chrissybaptista on Twitter to keep up.

Here are a few links to articles and a few pics to show you what we’ve been up to.

Mission Control: Social Media Meets New Jersey Devils

Mission Control Frosted Window

It’s time to get social. The New Jersey Devils have started up one of the first fan based social media hubs. They’ve enlisted the fans, the ones that live, breathe and bleed Devils red to build their team and are calling them the Devils Army Generals. New Jersey Devils Mission Control is where it’s all happening. The Devils selected around 25 fans (myself included!) to be a part of this innovative program to interact with other fans, via social media of course. Yea you read that right, me! We’re here to get the fans involved, engaged and motivate them to support their team at The Rock.

Every new program needs a logo, right? They went to the fans for the Mission Control logo design, too. Using a popular freelance site, CrowdSpring.com, they received 115 submissions for the new design (I take credit for a few of them). There were a few pretty awesome submissions. I just threw some of my ideas up there and hoped for the best. I guess Lou liked them because the New Jersey Devils picked my design for Mission Control!

It’s always great to win a design contest like this but it’s extra special since it’s for my team! Here’s the winning logo design for New Jersey Devils Mission Control.

The main concept design has also been adapted to top their new Digital Zone logo. The Digital Zone is an area on the main concourse of Prudential Center dedicated to… you guessed it, social media!

Needless to say, this was a pretty cool project to work on and I’m excited to see where Mission Control and the Devils Army Generals go!

Bella’s Turning 5!

February 8th, 2011 § Comments Off § permalink

My adorable little cousin is turning 5 in March and I thought it would be great if we had a mini photo shoot with her to commemorate such a mile stone! … Ok so I’m being dramatic, I just love photographing this girl! She’s super cute and such a good sport about my taking her picture so, I did! Her birthday party theme this year is going to be Helly Kitty, so we dressed her up in Hello Kitty from head to toe, put her in some tutu’s and went for it. We played it up with some cute poses and they really came out great! Here are a few shots, the rest are up on Flickr.

Cupcake

I’m a huge fan of the cupcake and have been making them for years for anyone who would eat them, and sometimes people who wouldn’t. French vanilla, chocolate, coconut, Tinker Bell-esque, I covered it all. But I couldn’t do it alone, I had a lot of help from Duncan Hines and Betty Crocker.

I think it’s about time I step up my game a little bit. Step away from the pre-mixes and step into my big girl shoes and bake from scratch! With the help of Gail Wagman’s Cupcake Galore recipe book, I am going to attempt to make each cupcake on my own with no help from Betty.

First up is the White Chocolate and Raspberry cupcake. White chocolate and raspberry cake mix with raspberry and vanilla frosting on top, mmm!

The BAKING:

White Chocolate baking chips (these were fun to munch on while the cupcakes were baking up)
Raspberry extract
Vanilla frosting (ok, so I cheated there and got pre made frosting, this is my first time!)
Fresh raspberries

Plus all the basic cake mix basics, eggs, salt, butter, flour… you know.

Combined the dry ingredients than hand mixed in the wet (good arm work out FYI) and let them bake at 350 for 20 minutes. They were little golden yellow cups of awesomeness. Let them cool, frosted up those bad boys with my semi-home made raspberry frosting and topped each cupcake with fresh halved raspberries. So cute!

The TASTING:

I let them set up for a while and went for the biggest cupcake. I was nervous about my first batch of homemade cupcakes and wasn’t expecting much, but they were really good! They were a little heavier than what I’m used to with Duncan & Betty, but still delicious either way. Almost muffin-y but tasted just like white chocolate. They even got the approval of my “guys don’t eat cupcakes” thinking boyfriend! Thumbs up for these cupcakes, on to the next!

Check out my photo’s of the cupcakes on Flickr!
